Seongmin Kim is a contemporary jewellery artist based in London since 2017. Her practice explores the quiet and nuanced emotions embedded within human relationships, particularly the intimate bonds of motherhood and family. Working primarily with pearl and mother of pearl, she creates symbolic and tactile jewellery that transforms personal narratives into wearable forms. Through hand carved surfaces and organic structures, her work reflects ideas of care, tenderness, resilience, and emotional connection, creating pieces that carry a quiet sense of timelessness.
She recently received two Gold Awards from the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council and was awarded fourth prize at the Florence Biennale in the Jewellery Art and Design category. Her work has been exhibited at Dover Street Market London, Goldsmiths’ Centre, and during London Craft Week. Reinterpreting traditional materials through a contemporary lens, Seongmin creates jewellery that balances refined craftsmanship and also extends her practice into installation and drawing. Seongmin graduated with a BA (Hons) in Jewellery Design from Central Saint Martins.
